Advanced Nurse Practitioners possess the required and enhanced knowledge, skills, qualifications and expertise to independently consult with patients who present to the surgery with a wide range of complex problems and acute same-day conditions.

The Practitioner, following a full and comprehensive clinical examination, will reach a diagnosis and, in conjunction with the patient, provide a treatment plan and a prescription for medications where indicated; they may also refer for further investigations or speciality assessment where required.

Our Nursing Team

Practice Nurses

Practice Nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They help with health issues such as family planning , childhood vaccinations and travel vaccinations. The Practice Nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare Assistants support Practice Nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Community and District Nurses

Community and District Nurses deliver a high standard of nursing care in the home, to meet the needs of patients and their carers. The team can be contacted on 01253 957597.

Their aims are to:

  • Nurse patients in their own home following discharge from hospital
  • Offer specialist nursing care for acute and terminally ill people
  • Work with GPs to maintain the health of patients by promoting their independence

Health Visitors

A Health Visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
